Track History

Parx Racing, formerly Philadelphia Park, was known as Keystone Racetrack from its opening day on Nov. 4, 1974, until International Thoroughbred Breeders purchased the track on Dec. 28, 1984. The most famous horse to race at Parx was Smarty Jones, who broke his maiden there in 2003 before winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes the following year.
